Rabee Baghshani

Iranian, born 1982 in Mashhad, Iran.

Rabee Baghshani is an Iranian digital artist whose work explores the intersection of cultural heritage, gender, and identity. Through digital collages, she merges the rich history of Persian art with Western pop culture, often juxtaposing Qajar-era figures in contemporary settings to comment on the fluidity of tradition and the evolving nature of cultural identity.

As one of the few female digital artists in Iran who never left the country, Baghshani’s work also addresses themes of freedom and women’s empowerment, challenging social norms and gender restrictions. Her series, VOGUE, focuses on amplifying female voices, particularly within the context of Iranian society, highlighting their resilience and strength in the face of oppression. Through her art, Baghshani sparks a dialogue about the complexities of identity, the power of self-expression, and the ongoing struggle for gender equality.
