Marina Gasparini

Italian. Born in 1960 in Gabicce Mare, Italy

Marina Gasparini explores the relationship between identity and inhabited space, often through drawing, embroidery, and installation. Since 2001, textiles have become a central and enduring medium in her work, allowing her to weave together personal narratives, spatial memory, and cultural references.

Marina Gasparini has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums, with both solo presentations and group shows, including international exhibitions dedicated to contemporary textile art. Alongside her studio practice, she teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts and has led numerous workshops on the theme of cartography in art. These projects have taken place at the University of Salamanca (Mapping Salamanca), the Universidade de Lisboa, Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt (Alfabetlanti), the Oulu Museum of Art in Finland (Archiscapes), the Galesburg Civic Art Center in Illinois (String Portrait of Galesburg), the Renovation Pro Art Center in Shinano-Omachi, Japan (Self-Portrait as Otafuku), and the Merano Children’s Book Archive (Class Atlas). She has also participated in artist residency programs across Rajasthan, Japan, the United States, and Finland, further enriching her research through diverse cultural contexts. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, she began her artistic career in Bologna during the 1980s.
